Current Internship Opportunities:

Marketing & Social Media Internship

The Y is looking for a cause-driven leader with a passion to serve others, better the community and make a positive impact. If you feel compelled to give back and support others, consider joining our Marketing & Communication team! Responsibilities include assisting the Northeast Iowa YMCA in communicating important events and information to members via a monthly eNewsletter, updating content on the Y’s website, creating posters and flyers using Microsoft Publisher and assisting Branch Director with their marketing needs. Managing the social media pages and developing additional pages on some of the newest platforms. This is an unpaid internship with flexible working hours, potentially working some weekend events. Start date will vary based on semester and can be a part-time or full-time internship that can be a semester or full year in length. Youth Sports & School Age Program Internship

At the Y we strengthen community through youth development because we believe that a community is stronger when all children can discover and achieve healthy lifestyles. In our youth sports & school age program you will be part of a nurturing and caring staff team that is there to help youth learn, grow, and thrive in a healthy environment by providing physical activity opportunities and healthy eating options. Responsibilities will include developing and implementing a detailed program schedule for these programs which will include acquiring and organizing all materials necessary for the successful operation of all program dates. Candidates should be going to school for education, rec. management or a related field. Other requirements include excellent communication, experience with program development or event planning, knowledge of school age children’s development, experience with sports, and a valid driver’s license. This is an unpaid internship with flexible working hours, potentially working some weekend events. Start date will vary based on semester and can be a part-time or full-time internship that can be a semester or full year in length. Fitness & Wellness Center Internship

At the Y we strengthen community through providing opportunities for all ages and abilities to achieve a healthy spirit, mind, and body. The Fitness & Wellness Center Intern will be part of our determined and welcoming staff team that strives to educate and encourage all to live a healthy lifestyle. Responsibilities include daily administrative tasks, teaching exercise fundamentals and group fitness to various age populations, program implementation and marketing, and more! The Fitness & Wellness Center Intern will gain skills in leadership; communication both oral and written; and organizational skills. This is an unpaid internship with flexible working hours, potentially working some weekend events. Start date will vary based on semester and can be a part-time or full-time internship that can be a semester or full year in length. Current Volunteer Opportunities:

Volleyball Camp Coach Volunteers

Monday-Wednesday, August 21-23 5:30-7:00 pm

Volunteers are needed to help coach 5th and 6th grade girls on the basic skills of volleyball, game rules and terminology, and have fun! Volunteers work with other coaches to ensure a safe and effective learning environment. Some volleyball experience is a plus!

Volunteers are needed to help teach and instruct children in different sports settings including volleyball, soccer, softball, flag football, and more. Volunteers work with coaches and parents to ensure a safe and fun learning environment. Some coaching experience or sport participation is a plus!

Sport Referee Volunteers

Various days/times depending upon the sport

Volunteers are needed to referee our youth sports program that emphasizes basic skills, character development, and fair play. Sports settings including volleyball, soccer, softball, flag football, kickball, and more. Volunteers work with coaches and parents to ensure a safe and fun learning environment. Some refereeing experience or sport participation is a plus!

Early Bird Volunteers

Week days 6:30 – 7:45 am

Be a role model and mentor for children in the community! Volunteers are needed for our Early Bird program that is offered to youth grades Kindergarten - 6th grade. This is a before-school program that includes responsibilities such as connecting with the youth, ensuring a safe and fun environment, engaging in games/sports/music, and more!

Member Service Volunteers

If you know what great customer service looks and feels like, this volunteer opportunity is for you! Volunteers in this role will help our Member Service team provide a positive experience for all Y members, program participants, and guests. Responsibilities include warmly greeting all who visit the Y, promoting programs, assisting with facility tours, and more!
